Dancing From within

where Movement Meets Meaning

A six week Series: Finding your Inner Narrative

Through guided self-exploration, you will develop a greater understanding of the stories you tell yourself and the patterns you repeat, both physically and emotionally. Together, we will turn toward the tenderness, grief, joy, longing, vulnerability, and strength that shape our inner landscapes. We will play with how we tell our stories and how we share our inner worlds through movement. Each session is facilitated to meet participants with and without dance training, and for those with a technical dance background, we will also explore how these tools can support performing your own, or learned choreography in a way that carries depth, is emotionally resonate and rich with meaning.

Classes will bring together aspects of different well-established structures from the dance and somatic fields to help us go deeper. We will draw on concepts from Laban/Bartenieff Movement Analysis (LMA), including the four Effort Elements: Weight, Space, Time, and Flow. Through these qualities, we will map our own movement tendencies.

We will also draw on Christine Caldwell’s Moving Cycle, which is organized around four phases: Awareness, Owning, Appreciation, and Action. This work invites us to acknowledge movement as an innate language and to integrate this knowledge more effectively into our lives, rooting these new narratives into daily being.

This class will feel like a ritual for the body, mind, and soul. It is an opportunity to feel more connected to yourself, understand yourself more clearly, and bring this self-awareness into your work as a mover, artist, or seeker.

If this calls to you, I’d love to have you in the room.
